Weekend Getaway: Happy 4th from NAS PENSACOLA , FL

Although, Rob & I were a little uncertain of the weekend weather, we've decided to pack our bags & book our room. Rain or shine, we'd planned to load the kids up and skip town for a fun (exhausting!) weekend away, down on the beach in Pensacola, FL.

A lil' Sparkler fun!
We kicked off the Fourth of July on the beautiful white sandy beaches with the kids & good company. We experienced a lil' thunder & the boys came into a few close encounters with jelly fish, but they didn't let that ruin their beach fun. After a few hours of soaking up the Florida sun, treading through the crystal blue waters & tossing the football around, we were all physically and mentally drained! (Oh, and not to mention sun burnt!)

A lil' beach fun!
After a fun & exhausting afternoon on the beach, we went into town and dined in at this hip hamburger joint called "The Tin Cow", located in the heart of downtown Pensacola on Palafox Place. (It was a first, for all of us & a must for all of you hamburger lovers.) Totally cool place, family friendly environment with a bar area. We experienced excellent service from our waiter. However, I wouldn't recommend sitting by the door. It being such a popular hangout and not to mention a holiday, the door was non-stop opening, I couldn't seem to catch a break from the heat smacking me in the face. In all honesty, the seating arrangement just made eating a hot hamburger a little uncomfortable for me. I personally wouldn't give this place negative reviews, the food was delicious & absolutely fresh!

Rob's hamburger creation!

Sunday approached so quickly, other than having to check out of the hotel at a certain time, we're never in any rush to head home. Who is?? Sunday was a bit hazy with light rain and a few scattered thunderstorms. The weather definitely had an impact on all of us. It was pretty safe to say, we were all dragging. (Except, of course, Devin!) But, we were eager to squeeze in one last stop... Ok, two last stops! ( Starbucks was one LOL! & Fort Barrancas was the other.) What can I say, I'm addicted to coffee! :)

We had a fabulous weekend getaway with a wonderful couple and our silly little rambunctious bunch. We lit up a few sparklers, snuck in a lil' vitamin SEA, tried a new eatery in town and explored Fort Barrancas. (Below is a glimpse inside the walls of  Fort Barrancas!) Hope you enjoy!

Fort Barrancas was one of  the four forts built to protect the Pensacola Navy Yard
