Here's to our last summer in MS

Schools out! Rob and I are extremely proud of our boys, Sean & Devin for keeping it together through all the distractions, challenges and days where we'd be dragging to get our butts out of bed. (Come on, we're all entitled to "bad days".) We're a family a five, the odds of us all waking up, happy go lucky, are rare or short lived, in my opinion. There is always that one, that wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. Lately, it's our "teenage" son, Kidding! He's only nine. LOL! In any event, in spite of everything we had going on this year, the boys managed to pull through and successfully complete their last year here in the MS school district.

We're one month into our last scorching hot, disgustingly humid summer here in MS. Clearly, I'm no fan of the summers here. I have never endured such oven like temperatures with a terrible combination of nasty humidity. You just feel icky the moment you step outside. My poor daughter, curly hair and humidity don't mix. LOL! Thank goodness for A/C! Not only is the summer heat & humidity dreadful, the bugs out here in the south are some real unpleasant, monstrous blood suckers! They'll literally eat you alive.

We recently attended the annual freedom fest abroad our military base, The freedom fest is a fun summer family event that kicks off every year, just before the fourth of July. Typically, there will be a few different food vendors, hot dogs, cheap beers, delicious snow cones, bounce houses, zip lining, face painting, fireworks, etc. Just a variety a foods and entertainment for all to enjoy. We all had a nice time, but as expected, the heat was brutal & the bugs were vicious!
I feel terrible that my boys are not committed to any summer programs this yr. Besides a few play dates, spontaneous trips to FL and their recent participation in a youth run, the boys have had a rather relaxed summer vacation, thus far.(In the words of my boys "boring".) We're anticipating a big move "OVERSEAS"(the military refers to it as OVERSEAS. However, in all actuality, we're headed to Hawaii, very soon!) When Rob and I aren't working, were combing through every room in our house decluttering and tossing a ton of crap away. This can be quite difficult & exhausting to accomplish with the kids. I mean, can you blame them? Hell, I don't even want to do it myself. I don't blame their frustration. Our living room last week literally looked like "PUMP IT UP".(bounce house warehouse) The kids get so discouraged to go outside because of the heat. So we brought the bounce house & slide indoors. It occupied them while Rob and I tackled the rest of the house. We're hoping for nothing less than a smooth organized transition out.
We couldn't be more excited to get to our new duty station. However, having children of our own and living this military lifestyle, it triggers all kinds of emotions, concerns & questions in our children. I recently came across a very informative article that really hit the nail on the head with this topic.   A couple weeks ago we celebrated Fathers Day! I couldn't be more blessed & grateful to be sharing life, love and parenthood with a wonderful man like him. Father's Day also marked one year since I've had my blog up and running, it was time for a blog makeover. Hope you enjoy! Until next time!

Have a Happy & Safe Fourth!
